What are you going for these days? What are your dreams? What scares you the most about your dreams?
I’m not sure where I get it from, but there are few things I won’t try. Once I set my mind on something, you can be sure it’s going to happen.
For as long as I can remember, I was willing to go for it!
– Trying out for a NCAA college co-ed cheerleading team even though I was “too” tall.
– Running a marathon even though I only started training 9 months before.
– Writing weekly emails and blog posts even though I was told for years I was a poor writer.
– Starting a business during a recession.
It’s not that I’m not afraid of failing because I am. But what’s more terrifying is regretting that I never tried when I had the chance.
In 2003 I called my sister Deb and asked if she thought we could walk 60 miles. I was watching TLC while reading Self magazine when I came across an ad for the Breast Cancer 3-Day, now The Susan G. Koman 3-Day. She said, sure, why not? Within a couple weeks we were registered for the San Francisco event and began fundraising.
The 3-Day was my first big fundraising event, and it’s something I hold dear. Since Deb and I walked, my mother has walked, and my sister Tina and brother-in-law Chris have volunteered for the event. It’s been a big part of my life for the last 10 years.
As you read this email, I’m in Dallas at the Susan G. Komen 3-Day and in two weeks I’ll also travel to the San Diego 3-Day.
If you haven’t pushed yourself or gone for something big, I challenge you to begin to think about what you might accomplish in 2015.
