Flashback Friday: Two years ago I sent the following letter to my email list. I’m posting it again today as a reminder of how far I’ve come. How much I’ve learned and honoring the moment that truly changed my life. Enjoy.
It was in January of 2008 when I stood at the front of Borders while a colleague purchased a magazine. I looked down and on the table was Skinny Bitch. The book had just been featured on the Oprah show. If Oprah was talking about it, I thought I should check it out. As I read the back cover and then a couple pages, I was drawn to take the book home with me. Over the next two days, I read the book with every free moment I had.
It blew my mind.
While I would have called myself a foodie, I realized I had no clue what I was putting in body. It scared me. So I made the unpopular choice to explore a vegan diet. Man-o-man, it was hard. But I learned very quickly the food I had mindlessly been eating all my life was really making me sick.
Over the next couple of weeks my stomach issues resolved, my energy increased and my skin glowed.
As you may expect, most of my friends and family worried about whether it was a healthy choice for me. So I did what I do best; I researched and researched and researched to ensure I was making the best choices for my body and my health.
It’s been an exciting journey. I’ve learned a lot, changed careers, and changed my lifestyle. (BTW, I’m not vegan but do my best to follow a plant-based, whole-foods diet.)
I share this with you because I wonder what it will be for you. What will be the one thought, idea, book, or email that will move you to action?
When you’re ready, I hope you’ll allow me to support you on your journey. Ready now? Click here to schedule a session today.
It’s your turn now. Post a comment below and share a moment in changed your life forever.
Be well,
Melanie Toner
