If you could have anything in the whole world, what would it be? What do you dream about? If anything were possible, what would you hope for?
I often find that adults have a difficult time dreaming and sharing dreams. They are caught up in the day to day routine and have lost sight of dreaming. I’m not sure if it’s because most people give up on their dreams before they come true or they lost hope because of what other grumpy adults have told them to believe.
Either way, it’s a choice. And I choose to dream and dream big! I write, in detail, what I’m dreaming about or what I desire. Some come true and others don’t. At the time a dream doesn’t always make much sense, but I come to understand it when a piece of the dream unfolds in my life.
Have you forgotten how to dream? It’s okay, you can learn again. The simple way is to ask any child what they dream about, and they’ll inspire you to dream again. To get started take the time to answer these 3 questions…
1. Describe your dream home. Where is it? Who lives there with you? What style is the décor? How many rooms, floors, windows, doors? Is there a pool or a garage or a deck? What does the outside look like? Is it new or old or in between?
2. Describe in detail your dream day. What would you do upon waking? Who would be there? What would you eat? How would you spend your time? Describe the people you would spend your day with. If your dream day is a work day, what would the day be like and what would you do? What kind of clothes would you wear? Think of all the parts of the day and describe in detail what you see, feel, touch, hear, and taste from the moment you wake until you close your eyes at night.
3. Describe your dream partner or maybe you choose to not have one. What does the person look like? What does he/she wear? What types of activities do you enjoy together? How do you spend your time? What do you value about them? How does he express his love?
Remember, anything is possible. Leave your limiting beliefs and self-doubt at the door. You can pick it up on the way out if you so choose.
